Men and women live through stories. Religion is a story-frame, a way to tell yourself that your personal story makes sense, your life has a master plot, a goal, that there's a point to it all. We are characters in each others stories. Sometimes you get a key role next to the main protagonist, for instance through love or as an antagonist (not mutually exclusive). Sometimes, mostly, you are but an extra.
Extras are not people. Extras are silent Others. They don't get rights, they don't get to represent their own interwoven stories. They will be forgotten, killed off, if they do not manage to create something more for themselves as guests in the story-frame.

"If you are silent about your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it."
